Carbon Block Cartridges

Carbon block water filter cartridges are another commonly used type of water filtration media that utilizes activated carbon for the removal of contaminants, but unlike granular activated carbon (GAC), carbon block cartridges consist of finely powdered activated carbon that is compressed into a solid block form. This unique design allows for more precise filtration and enhanced contaminant removal efficiency. Some key features and benefits of the carbon block structure provide greater surface area for contact between water and activated carbon, resulting in enhanced absorption and contaminant removal. Varying density and layers to address different types and sizes of contaminants being highly effective at removing chlorine, chloramines, volatile organic compounds (VOCs), and other organic chemical that affect water taste, odour and overall quality. Some of which being able to reduce or remove lead and heavy metals by incorporating specialized media or ion exchange resins and having the presence of activated carbon allows the media to inhibit the growth of bacteria within itself, giving it a longer life span and making it cost effective.
