BPA (Bisphenol A) is a chemical that can be found in some types of plastic and other products, also known to be detected in some water sources. BPA has been related to be an endocrine disrupter, meaning that it can interfere with normal functioning of hormones in the body and has been linked to a variety of health problems, including reproductive disorders, developmental problems in children, and some types of cancer. While the levels of BPA in drinking water are generally low and considered to be safe by regulatory agencies, some studies have raised concerns about the potential long-term effects of chronic exposure to even low levels of BPA.
